About Made in Brixton

Ushering in a new era of unity for Brixton's creative business community. Because together we can make things better.

Not long ago a group of creative business leaders from the area came together with an idea to unite Brixton's creative community under a single, mutually-supportive and beneficial umbrella organisation. While individually the area's creative industries are doing fine and producing world class work, there was a feeling that if we all got to know and understand each other's businesses a little better, everyone who lives and works in the area stands to benefit. Like all the best ideas, Made In Brixton began with little more than a burst of energy backed by a healthy dose of enthusiasm, optimism and willing.

This Made In Brixton local creative business directory you're holding now was produced by young people from Brixton's youth publication, LIVE Magazine, under the mentorship of local professional designers, photographers, and journalists. Together with the expanded online version, this directory represents the first tangible product, but it is just the beginning. Made In Brixton has no hidden agenda, no leaders, no fixed path, no rules, no political objective. It is whatever you want it to be, it can achieve whatever we want it to achieve. There are however all kinds of potential benefits that it can bring, helping local businesses and creative freelancers to...

  • Source local suppliers easily
  • Refer new business to each other
  • Apply for joint regeneration and arts funding bids
  • Lobby the council
  • Implement local environmental initiatives
  • Promote Brixton businesses to the rest of the world
  • Tap into new local young talent
  • Sustain existing creative businesses in the area
  • Attract more creative businesses to the area
  • Ensure that regeneration doesn't come at the expense of Brixton's core community.

So if you are one of the businesses that have already submitted your details into the directory, let’s hope you start feeling the impact soon. And if you haven’t been included this time around don’t worry, as we said, this is just the beginning, so please get in touch and become an equal partner in shaping Brixton’s creative future.
